It was started in 2001 with a paltry sum of Pak Rs. 10,000 (donated by wife Tahira Shamsher Ranjha equivalent to US $ 100) and has up till now disbursed around Pak Rs. 17 billion (US$ 170 Million). This has a recovery rate of 99.85%. The fund serves more than 1,000,000 families through 350 plus branches in 220 plus cities and towns of Pakistan. It is projected that by 2015 December, Akhuwat will be able to disburse around Rs. 200 Billion (US 200 Million) to more than a million families, In Shaa Allah.
